The project
Main theme of the Grundtvig Learning Partnership will be culture, in particular culture of minorities in Europe.
Elderly learners (50 plus) and teachers will develop an international exhibition, dealing with this topic. It will be developed within three main steps. A study will be implemented at first. The life of selected minorities in the partner countries will be studied with regard to the question “do their conventions and customs still play an active role in their daily live?” Second step will be the transformation of the results into exhibition material (e.g. poster, video). That will require creativity, competence in cultural expression and high motivation of all participants. Last step will be the jointly development of one common product for the exhibition. Partners’ products and the common product will be displayed within the framework of five parallel exhibitions in the partner countries. For the purpose of involving the point of view of minorities, the learners of the English partner will be persons belonging to a minority (Gypsies and Travellers).
The main objectives of the project are to
§ enhance the participation of elderly people in lifelong learning. The project is open to current and potential learners and they will be involved in all project activities and meetings
§ support the mobility of elderly learners and of teachers through participation in the international project meetings
§ strengthen intercultural competence of participants
§ increase the usage of ICT-Tool in adult education for e.g. by means of the usage of an online tool (blog)
An added value of the project is the exchange on European level, increasing our knowledge about European approaches in particular with regard to senior education. By gaining insight in these aspects we will be able to improve the quality of our offer. Participating staff will have the possibility of sharing best practices in the field of senior education and of participating in international meetings.
